Founder
Rwanda Freedom of Speech is a non-profit initiative founded by John B. Simbaburanga (@be_johns), a former Rwanda National Police officer who is now an advocate for free expression.
I started this campaign when I realised that from the kings to the presidents, Rwandans have never had a real opportunity to speak freely. Most of the problems Rwanda has faced — and still faces today — are rooted in the lack of freedom of speech.
Where people have the right to express themselves without fear, solutions are found more quickly through open dialogue with the citizens and individuals concerned.
Our work is guided by the lasting principles of Truth, Justice & Peace.
We believe in seeking and speaking the truth, even when it is difficult or uncomfortable.
Everyone deserves fair treatment, the right to be heard, and equal protection under the law.
Open dialogue and free expression are essential foundations for lasting peace in society.
Join live conversations on freedom of speech, truth, justice and the future of Rwanda.
